I just bought a UPR K member kit. First they forgot my A-rm bushings.

But when I went to install the K-member It wouldn't fit. There was like a 2-3" gap on each side. It was hitting the motor mounts before coming up and meeting flush against the frame. I went a head and reinstalled the stocker which went right back on.

Has any one else had this problem with the UPR K-member? Is there something I'm missing?

There have been some threads over in 5.0 tech about UPR stuff. I'm not one to tell people to use the seach mode, but they have just talked about it.

Just curious. The stock 4.6L motor mounts have little alignment tabs on the next to the stud which drops throught the stock K member. The stock K member has a hole for them. Does the UPR K frame have holes for them. If not, they could stick up 1/4" per side at the motor mounts.

Is the 2-3" gap you are talking about at the frame rails?

It might be more like 1.5-2". It has the holes but I didn't noticed if they where going through. They gap is at the frame rails.

Have you raised the motor up way way high? I would use a hoist to raise it up at least 3-4" above where it normally sits, then bolt the K-member in, then try and lower the motor into the cradle, then shift around the K-member if the motor mounts go in to align it properly.

No! I don't need to for the stock one, besides on my car there is not 3-4" worth of room. I did raise it about 1"

^They sent you the wrong one.

I bought a PA racing K and it fit, but the alignment tabs for the motor mounts were way off. We had to grind them back quite abit to get the tab to fit....so I think they gave me the wrong one. Oh well its been working fine, and I like the weight savings!

Well they are sending me a new one. So I hope it fits better. I would hate to grind on it.

The alignment pegs are hitting an inch above above the alignment holes on both sides of the k-member. You can see where they make contact.

Well I got that sob in there! Yippee. I turned the header collector flange on the drivers side which gave me almost a inch of extra clearance to jack it up. Then I ground down the motor mount alignment peg a little and it went in. So I'll just send back the new one coming tomorrow.

There's a little bit of my blood on it now, but at least the damn thing is in.
