UPS just delivered Mach1 chin, any install tips?

Other than drink a beer, tighten fastener, drink 2nd beer, tighten 2nd fastener, drink 3rd beer, tighten 3rd fastener, etc.?

yeah, put it back in the package, go to UPS and send it next day air to ME!

I think by the 4th one I'll be considering if I should have had it painted to match

Would like some opinions please on mount position.

oooh, torch red. just like mine. you definitely need the grille delete next. as far as the mount position, just get someone to help you. three people would be ideal. two to hold it in place and one to lay under the car, make sure its aligned and mark where you need to drill.

if you can't get enough people to help get some foam tape to hold it in place wlile you drill. once you get middle and side with one retainer the rest can be done alone.

but 3 people would be optimum I just didn't have the luxury.

Thanks for the tips guys. I've got some of those quick grips with the soft rubber tips to help clamp it in place (if that will work ) If not, I'll go for plan "B"eer

I was thinking the plugs may give-way and not destroy the bumper if it's ever curbed vs. the screws possibly tearing the bumper apart if they get ripped out. But it seems the screws will hold better than the plugs. Any opinions?

I would never use metal screws or rivets, if they come loose they'll be in your tires. use the cheap plastic push-pins as they won't puncture your tires

Push pins, if you haven't curbed anythin without a chin, you probably won't with one, since it doesn't lower the profile of the car that much.

If you have ramps or jackstands, use 'em. Trying to get a drill up into the bumper cover can be a little tight.

Uhm, I've curbed my car alot more with the Mach1 chin spoiler. Same ride height too, it just adds an extra inch or so. Really an inch or so of protection, I would much rather have my chin spoiler rub/hit something than my shiney painted bumper lol.

Yea.. seems like you have two choices for mounting.

1) Mount it flush with the fenderwell, and deal with the fact that it looks like it's too far back.

2) Mount it so it looks like the real Mach 1 so it's sitting quite far forward, but not flush with the fenderwell.

I'd choose number 2 if I ever put one on.

The newer piece I just put in is both flush with the fenderwell and the front of the bumper.

Rhino ramps will let you down just fine; so, no need for jackstands if you don't want to.

One person can help hold in place while you mark the holes and then drill. Be careful on a couple of the front corners with your drill, as you could hit the fog light housing if you are not careful.

Just my 2 cents--after doing this about 2 weeks ago!
