urethane motor mount questions

are these bolt on? Do they use the old nuts...the nuts will fit? How do I lift the engine? Will the engine sit higher?

Yes they are bolt on. Mine came with new nuts. There are a few ways one is to jack the motor up with a jack and a block of wood by the oil pan ( I personally don't like this method but my Haynes says to do it this way) the other way is to use an engine hoist and lift it up from the top. Be sure to take the fan off so you don't break your fan or shroud. Mine sat a little higher but I think it is due to the crappy rubber on the stock ones being worn out and collapsing. I used the Prothane but Energy Suspensions are awesome also.

So what do aftermarket mounts do for us anyway? Just wondering if it would be a good cheap improvement.

In terms of power, they do reduce driveline movement which helps keep the power to the wheels. Chances are they are not gonna break like a stock one causing the fan and shroud to break. The more horse you get the higher the chances a stock one will break.

I just got the Prothane's from Summit, and they didn't have the nuts included...am I missing them? I bought new ARP SS bolts for the mount to block...couldn't find the nuts anywhere...

I am pretty sure they use the original hardware. I did all three Energy Suspension mounts at the same time. Compared to the broken stockers, it was a difference, except I did a bunch of other mods. With the B-cam, you could visably tell I had a cam, but it didn't shake hard. Not hard enough, that is why I have solid mounts now. With poly mounts, yes you will feel the motor more, but it won't be a bad feel.

I just installed the energy suspension motor mounts and tranny mounts. The motor mounts use your stock hardware and the tranny mount comes with new set up. I replaced them becouse with my new set up I didnt want my motor to move as much with the new cam. I saw a car with the same cam and stock motor mounts, the car sounded and ran awsome but when the hood was open tha motor would move alot that is why I went this route. By the way the energy suspension have an excellent fit. I was suprised they fit so perfect I had no clearance problems what so ever, even with a 7 qrt canton pan on my sn 95 body cobra.

I used the Prothane mounts from 50Resto (no nuts included) and my engine sits up a little bit higher. Double check the gap before you close your hood.

i used the energy suspension kit and it actually lowered my engine enough to allow me to use my bbk strut brace and my typhoon intake no longer touch's my hood insulation.

if you're going to be changing your mounts, start spraying down te bolts now with something to help loosen them up. i bet they're on there pretty good.

Yeah, I heard the Prothane's raise the motor a bit, and the ES's lower it. I went with the Prothanes because they were cheaper, and I have more room above the motor, so raising it a bit won't hurt anything.

I already have the ES tranny mount installed, and I picked up a set of SS ARP 12-point motor mount bolts..

As rubber gets old, contanimated, and/or worn, it tends to loose it's elasticity, so if you think it raised your motor, maby it just put the motor where it was suposed to be compared to the stock mounts. Rubber can also swell when soaked in oils and greese, so maby thinking the new mounts lowered the engine.... well what I am trying to say is that unless the stock mounts were in like new condition, it's hard to compare.

my mounts were only a little over a year old when i replaced them with the energy suspension ones.

I have the Energy Suspension mounts and they came with new bolts for the mount to frame. I think the mount to block used the original hardware. I didn't notice any difference in engine height, I think it keeps it the same.
