The Ford 500 that we had driven to Florida developed a rear brake problem.
Because this car was fairly new we stopped in to Gary Yoemans Ford in Daytona Beach Florida just off of the I95.
This is by far the largest car dealership I have ever been in, lots of stock as well as one of the largest service areas I have ever seen. It was late in the afternoon when we arrived so lots of the mechanics had already gone home. Because we were not from the area they decided that they would take car of us. They did a fine job, the rear brakes were completely cooked (known problem on Ford 500) so a resurface on the rotors and new pads were required. By the time we arrived and left 3 hours had passed so I ahd lots of time to wander around and look at prices. Here is what I found.

Mustangs, these guys have stock and lots of it, new 2007 V6’s prices starting in the $17K US range. A full load GT Convertible (all options) $36K. On the front entrance to the dealership was a Rousch 472R, $52K. In the show room was a Shellby 500 in Black, what a mean looking car. The price on the Shellby was something else, it was stickered out at about $52K. The salesman was saying that they can’t get anymore Shellby’s and everyone that they have sold was for $25K over the sticker price meaning a price of $77K. I guess these things have already reached collector status.
Just for fun I priced the Ford 500 we were driving, $32K Canadian dollars were paid for the car before taxes (it was a 2006) and the exact same car with options in a 2007 was on the lot for $19.7KUS.
Bottom line is that even with exchange between the dollars we seem to be getting ripped off in Canada on car prices!

Yah I know its not even close the difference. The way to do it is to buy it in the states and theh you have to go through a few inspections so it passes canadian safety rules and thehàn you're good to go. Ask mpcv2000, thats how he bought his stang.

Which is where they get you since you've to to have day time running lights for one and those stupid bilingual stickers all over the place for another. God knows what else you've got to have that they can nickel and dime you to death with. The best way to do it would be to buy out West. That way, it passes all safety requirements and you've only got to pay GST instead of both taxes.
