30k is where theyre at from a dealership in good condition, ive yet to see one under 28k, and that 28k one was beat. depending on condition, 22-25k private party. anyone selling for less, IMO, should be shot. id like to keep the cobras above 20k so no stupid little kids get them and start wrapping them around poles. plus the more mature people with cobras, the more mature our owner base is.
the first thing to look for when buying a modded car is the disposition of the seller. when i first got my cobra, it had already had a 2.93" pulley, idlers, bf tb, intake, catted x and bassani exhaust. the mods were done by him and tune was from amazon. the guy knew his **** about cobras and alot of other cars, which made me feel good about the purchase, that i wasnt just buying it from someone who only did the mods because someone on svtperformance told him to do it that way. if he doesnt know much or sounds shady, walk away. the guy i bought it from was very honest, mid 40's likely, i asked him how his driving habits were, as he had a rather long drive down twisties to get to San Jose in the morning, he basically said "like a mustang should be" but that it wasnt abused or the like. in my GT it was a half hour drive up, and he was like, "i could get down the mountain in 20 if i wanted to, even less in my M3 now!" which told me he liked turning more than he liked going pure WOT to redline in the straights.
i then sold it to a guy locally who was all into cobras, that did a little more work, we kept in touch and i ended up just buying it back from him (he wants a GTO for a bolt-ons+nitrous combo, plus a bit of a better DD for commuting), he did all the mods up to my level of expectations craftsmanship wise (IE no missing bolts or wires hanging about, etc).
