I'm going to go look at 2 Cobra's

1. modded 04, chip, tuned, pullied, O/R H pipe flowmaster cat back 23,000 miles, silver....$27,000

2. 03 cobra bone stock never touched dark red with 41,000 miles $25000

I don't know much about the 03/04 cobra, except what I read on the FAQ for these cars, i like the idea of an unmolested car but those mods can'te done for the $2k price diffrence. thoughts? opinions?

How long are you going to keep it and what are you going to use it for?

You're wrong. Those mods CAN be done for less than 2k!

chip/tune same thing - $500
pulley - $80
O/R H - $250
cat-back $400

Personally I think both those prices are a little high. 25K for the 04 and 23K for the 03 are more reasonable.

ok i looked at the untouched 03 closer. broken drivers side mirror 41K miles BBK CAI, long tube headers with O/R H pipe, and flowmaster cat back. no ticking noise, pulled well and stopped straight. $24,995

PS... paint and body were very nice

I would prefer the stock car so I could select the exact mods I wanted and personally install the ones I was able to do.

Not really. Depends on where you live I gues. Becuase I just bought my 04 Cobra with 14k miles on it for 27k and that was after weeks of searching. There were a few options around me here in NJ but all the prices were about 25k for an 03 and 28k for an 04....

I was happy with my 04 for 27k.

I heard lots of poeple saying they should be like 25k but there are a few factors that come in play...like i was only setlling on a black on black one. Makes things harder to find.

27k for an 04 is at the high end, i wouldn't pay over that personally. And if you can get the kid to give you a tax break on it, that helps a lot too

30k is where theyre at from a dealership in good condition, ive yet to see one under 28k, and that 28k one was beat. depending on condition, 22-25k private party. anyone selling for less, IMO, should be shot. id like to keep the cobras above 20k so no stupid little kids get them and start wrapping them around poles. plus the more mature people with cobras, the more mature our owner base is.

the first thing to look for when buying a modded car is the disposition of the seller. when i first got my cobra, it had already had a 2.93" pulley, idlers, bf tb, intake, catted x and bassani exhaust. the mods were done by him and tune was from amazon. the guy knew his **** about cobras and alot of other cars, which made me feel good about the purchase, that i wasnt just buying it from someone who only did the mods because someone on svtperformance told him to do it that way. if he doesnt know much or sounds shady, walk away. the guy i bought it from was very honest, mid 40's likely, i asked him how his driving habits were, as he had a rather long drive down twisties to get to San Jose in the morning, he basically said "like a mustang should be" but that it wasnt abused or the like. in my GT it was a half hour drive up, and he was like, "i could get down the mountain in 20 if i wanted to, even less in my M3 now!" which told me he liked turning more than he liked going pure WOT to redline in the straights.

i then sold it to a guy locally who was all into cobras, that did a little more work, we kept in touch and i ended up just buying it back from him (he wants a GTO for a bolt-ons+nitrous combo, plus a bit of a better DD for commuting), he did all the mods up to my level of expectations craftsmanship wise (IE no missing bolts or wires hanging about, etc).

Just my 2 cents here... but anyone who went to the trouble and cost of installing LT's on a 03/04 Cobra, but did not pulley it, ah is . That car was previously modified I'll bet ya a dollar. They just de-moded it prior to trading it in.

I thought i remember reading somewhere that there is a paint marking on the upper pulley so you can actually see if the pully was off, or changed. I think that car is a no go anyway, 25K for a car with 41K miles and a busted mirror seems high.

PS I have YouTube to thank for all this, I watched a clip of a 04 Cobra and the way it sounded and pulled, now I'm hooked. I'm going from 139 HP 77 Cobra II to a 390 HP Cobra.

Nope! If a "Quality" pulley removal tool was used there will be no signs that it was removed and then replaced. They could have replaced the whole snout too for that matter! There was a company that was selling the snouts with a pulley already pressed on.
