Used GT prices are ridiculous....

RED2001GT, I do have a question for you and I hope you can answer it honestly. Have you had a chance to spend some real time in an S197 and I don't mean a test drive or a ride around the block in someone elses car? It really sounds like you haven't experienced 1 yet. I could be wrong, but that is the impression I'm getting because if you did, I don't believe you'd be putting up the fight you are in this thread. You remind me of people who say they'll never eat sushi, then wind up saying it's their favorite food after getting over their pre-conceived notion after trying it 1 time.

All that I have to say is that all you people who purchased the 05-07 Mustangs paid too much for them... I would never pay the outrageous prices that they are currently asking for the new 07 Mustangs. The 07 Mustang GT Coupes are not worth more than $24,000 TOPS. But there are people out there who will pay $28,000 and $30,000 for them just because they want to own one. I say all the power to you if you like getting raped by Ford.

Your logic is sounding more and more like that of my ex-wife. :bang: :bang:

Are you related to her???

They were more affordable than the 05-07 Mustangs. I am not the type of person who wants to overpay for a vehicle, whether it be a Ford Mustang or anything else. I'm glad that I got a really good deal on my 01 Mustang GT and on my 02 V6 Mustang. I would never pay the outrageous prices that they are currently asking for the new 07 Mustangs. Simple solution to your problem.

If you don't think an 07 Mustang GT is worth what they are selling for, don't buy one.

Being "affordable" does not make a car great. 99 - 04 Mustangs sold for less than 05 - 07 Mustangs because they aren't worth as much. The old Mustang is flat out an inferior car to the S197.:bang:

And, how about telling us where we can buy a new 2007 MY, 300 HP coupe with great stying for less than $24K.

You Americans are ridiculously spoilt! I see lots of young people going out buying new cars, including Mustangs whilst over here in the UK, we have to pay a lot more for our cars.

OK, an imported Mustang GT Premium - $48600
A slightly used one - minimum $36000

What could we have for $30000 equivalent? Well for the equivalent of $34000, you can have a Ford Focus ST which is a very good car but that's cheap next to a Golf GTi. It would maybe buy you a pre-registered Honda Civic Type R.

I don't know what the average salary is over there but I can tell you that not many Focus ST's get sold to young people when the insurance costs around $4000 a year. They won't even consider insuring you on a Mustang Gt until you're at least 25.

You are right! I did freak out when I saw the price of the new 2 seater Thunderbird. That's another example of Ford price raping their customers.

Lets see, Dictionary Definitions

Rape: Sexual intercourse with a woman by a man without her consent and chiefly by force or deception.

So, to be price raped I would have had to pay without consent... No that didnt happen.. By force..... No, nobody forced me to buy. By deception... no, nobody deceived me.. I guess the jury would find Ford innocent of price rape..

The UK does not sound like the best place to be a Mustang fan. It sounds like you must really love them if you are willing to pay the pounds for them. The thing you do have is an awesome public transportation system, and some of the best cab drivers in the world. I'm not sure if I would even own a car over there. I guess if you are rich, who cares right? My sister lived in London for a bit and most of her friends walked. One guy had a Mini- not one of the new ones, that we called the Mr. Bean car.

I rented a car and got it towed in one day for not having a residential permit when I was helping my sister move. It cost me around $400 dollars to get it out of impound:bang: . Expensive place.

Hey Webster,

It's just an expression. I agree that most people who get bent over are at least partly to blame. Just to clarify, I'm referring to price rape, or being raped by the dealer.

Partly to blame? Maybe we just have nicer car salesmen over here. But I have not yet had one salesman or dealer put a gun to my head. Then say "Buy it for over MSRP or else".

Very true... The experienced buyer has no real excuse. I bought my 2001 at 24 years old and was pretty naive and the dealer took me to the cleaners. Ultimately, my fault for signing but I am still a little bitter about it. FOr my next purchase, I was the biggest pain in the ass customer, but got what I wanted.

I find myself always being a PITA to car salesmen. But I almost always get what I want. And I found when I talked to them about market adjustments. Starting with the sentence. "Are you Stupid?" Seemed to make my point about it just fine.

Man, I watched and waited as that d@mned concept became the production model. Saw it at the dealer and went in, expecting the worse. Imagine my SHOCK and AMAZEMENT as I saw the sticker of $26,750. After putting any thoughts of "dealer mark-up" right to bed, I went right on and bought the thing there and then. WHAT A DEAL! And people are getting them on Plans, for even less - it's like stealing!!!

Bravo Ford, for keeping the price so low (maybe too low, given your current financial struggles?). Long may your aggressive pricing policy last, all to the good of us grateful buyers! Hurrah!!!

:SNSign:

Yep the Stang Gts are all over priced.....
The Camaro and Challenger will be over $35,000 with a
V8
I think I paid $24,000 for a 2003 Premium GT
What a jump huh???
My 2006 GT Loaded and 2007 GT Loaded I got at invioce..And sure most still can get the Gts at invoice...
$30,000 for a decend car is cheap unless you have money problems and have to take a loan and not pay in cash...
My friend just bought a 2007 Vette ZO6 with tax and $4000 over MSRP was around $90,000....Nobody crys if you have the money...............
