I recently purchased a used K&N filter off of ebay it is model # E-0940 and it is for my 1995 mustang GT, i have two questions #1 is it supposed to have a black rim with a purple gauze cotton filter material? because the one they sent me in the K&N box has an orange rim on the bottom, a yellow gauze filter material, and on the top a black cone shaped head, it looks nothing like any of the filters shown on the box. On the bottom it says Slot, and Made In USA this made me wonder, is this really a geniune K&N? My 2nd question is i was reading the lil pamphlet that came included in my box it said the K&N filter needed to oiled etc, i don't have any of the K&N brand oil, will i need to buy some? or will some other oil product work? thank you!

You can get the K&N cleaning solution and oil at Autozone for about 10 bucks.

Not sure on the rest. Are you sure it did not say a "K&N style filter"?

Good luck.

Fram Airhog dude, Thats exactly what they look like. Send it back and E-mail E bay tell them it was not what was offered, then have your credit card company dispute the charge. This way you will get your money back in a month or so.

Definitely post a complaint. Then update it IF the seller corrects the issue.

Yes I would...It has maybe 10,000 miles and it's off my 95 Cobra. When it was still stock. I could send you a pic if you like.

Why not. Wash it and oil it and toss it in. I dont buy used filters per se, but when I get a car with one, I clean it up, oil it and toss it back in.
