Anything wrong with getting a used shifter? It's coming off a 2003 turbo Mach1, it's seen some drag strip action but there's really nothing to worry about with a used shifter right?

Well a shifter is not very expensive.. if it's not much cheaper than a brand new one then I say go for the new one.. I'd buy a new one just to be safe

well shifters aren't really a "ware" item. The shifter I had in my 5.0 was in there for 5 years, and I took it out, cleaned it up and worked just fine for someone i sold it too... I don't think you'd have a problem!

id be carefull. i bought a new tri axe for my 04 gt and after about a month the seal started leaking. i took the shifter out and water leaks right through the pivot seal. it still looks like new. id make sure they will gaurentee it not to leak. it took about a monthe for the tranny fluid to work it's way up and down the side of the tranny on to the exhaust. and made my brand new car smoke like some old chevy.

Local guy, the engine is being worked on right now, 9.2:1 compression and built for 20+ psi, it's going to be a beast!

I'd go for it, don't think you could wear an aftermarket shifter out.

Especially since it can't be much more than a year old.

that's for a T5/T45 the one I'm getting is for the 3650

EDIT: The guy who wants his trans doesn't need a shifter so it looks like I'll get it never been powershifted, the rest of the drivetrain probably wouldn't have lasted this long anyway
