Used wrong key - now will not start

Accidentally put the F150 key in ignition and afterward Mustang will not start. Did I upset the PATS or is this just a coincidence?

Yea you probably tripped the PATS. You can either take it to the dealer to have it reset or you can try to reset it yourself.

Turns out the fuel pump had failed. Putting in the wrong key had no impact.

Pump replaced - Car operational.

if you did trip it, all you have to do is put the correct key in and turn it on, but not crank it... after a few seconds, the PATS will "recognise" the correct key and crank the car....

Sry for the Highjack. Can anyone tell me if I need a certain type of replacement key for my 97 ? I just bought the car and only have 1 key.

Go to the dealership to get a second key. Problem solved.
