Using Rock Guard On Inside Floor Panal?

Was wondering if anyone has done this or why not? I am looking at the bare metal of my floor pans and after painting them up wih rust protection paint. I was wondering if anyone has put rock guard on the inside? I was thinking as I see this as a way to help keep the floorpans from rusting out as it will be under the carpet so no one can see it anyways so who gives a hoot? It is cheaper and can be a better barrier against mosturie then paint if done right. It also can help against nosie by acting as sound deadening. So I was curious if anyone has done this and if not, why not?

Are you talking about that film stuff? I think that is more for protecting the paint from scratches than preventing rust. I would look at the truck bed liners like the stuff LineX sprays in. But, they sell it in a paint can at Lowes that you can roll or brush on. It would do very well against rust, moisture, sound barrier, heat barrier, and dings/scratches (though it will be under the carpet). I've seen people use it on both the inside and outside of the floor pans for exactly that reason.

Edit: Pretty sure they sell it in a spray can too.

yeah i agree with pocketlint ,i would use bed liner. wall mart sells a gallon ,its a two part mix around $80 .i used it in my 69 and its very tough stuff .can be sprayed ,rolled or brushed in . i think it would look great under the floor as well. i am going to spray it in the wheel tubs and in side the quarters as well. it does look better if sprayed in they do sell a cheep gun that works prety good.

I may have to try putting it inside my wheel wells, too. Early on when I did the control arms, tie rods, all that stuff, I sprayed that rubberized paint under there to make it all uniformly black and for sound deadening. Worked and looked great, but has started to flake off in some places.

if you follow directions with this stuff i dont think it will ever come off
epoxy prime first and make sure its clean and no rust and no tar ,forgot to mention the liner from wall mart is a kit ,comes with a roller and scuff pad, it takes a few hours to dry depending on temp and humidity so have patience,sorry bout the double pics

The SPI spray in that rusty428cj uses is awesome. The guy from SPI sent me a sample and it is about 1/16" or more thick and quite flexible and you have a hard time cutting it, even with a fresh razor blade.

I guess I should of looked at my post before hand haha. Yea I ment the bedliner stuff. I just haven't seen many people use it thats all. So I was just curious of why not many use it? My high school autobody class, the teacher kinda uses the term rock guard as in the meaning of spray on bedliner so it kinda stuck haha. I didn't even know rock guard was a company making protective film for cars? But yea, I was thinking about spraying bedliner on the inside floor pans and just didn't see many people doing this so was wondering why not?

I think it's because you need a fresh project to do it on. If the carpet and interior are in good condition, people are not likely to want to rip all that out to do the floorpans. And even if they are starting new, most people just don't thing about it since the carpet is going to cover it up anway.
