I just picked up a box of "V-BLOK" sound deadening. It is a cheaper brand then DynaMat. I got six 13"X30" sheets and one 10"X10" sheet for 90 dollars. The price on it was 130, but the buy at Mickey Shorr said it was in stock for over a year. Anyways, I am using this stuff on my 81 notch to deaden sound and reduce heat. I am gonna line the firewall, the trans tunnel, and if I have enough...the driver and passenger feet area. I can't use the factory matting behind the dash because I am using the 2001 dash in the 1981 car, so fitment is tight. I will let you know how it goes.

It looks like I picked some pretty good stuff I guess. I put the VB2 all along the firewall, trans tunnel, even the underside of the cowl. This stuff is really sticky. It trimmed and fit great. I took some pics....but they didn't come out very good, you couldn't tell what it was. It is black matting in a black firewall...so posting them is pointless. I hope this helps with sound and heat.
