There are no marks.

You'll need this:

Amazon product ASIN B07PX15TP6View: https://www.amazon.com/Timing-Explorer-Mustang-Mercury-Mountaineer/dp/B07PX15TP6/ref=sr_1_8?dchild=1&keywords=ford+mustang+4.0+timing+tool+kit&qid=1587348369&sr=8-8

or one of the other Chinese knockoffs of the original OTC/Ford set. Get a Haynes or Chilton manual as well, you're going to need it to understand what to do with the special tool set.

I've done two of these, one in a 2005 Mustang and one in an Exploder. On the Exploder it was due to a front chain guide failure, and on the Mustang it was due to a rear chain guide failure. If you're going to do the whole job, the engine has to come out to access the rear timing chain and cassette (and you really should do the whole job, if one part has failed, the rest of the plastic is going to be brittle and on the verge of failure as well).

There's a video, the re-timing is part 3 of 4 in series, and is done on a 4x4 Ranger or Explorer (there are slight differences, but the engines are similar). Brian's videos are better than anyone else's when it comes to Ford stuff. I'm a former Ford dealership tech, and STILL use his 3.5 Ecoboost video when I do F150 timing chains (better, more detailed, and easier to follow than the factory service information).
