V6 to V8 conversion

I did this swap over 15 years ago in my 83 convertible. I bought a well used 1978 Fairmont because of the motor mounts and oil pan. You will need:
1. oil pan and pickup for the rear sump pan unless the 79 Mustang motor has one.
2. Motor mounts-use convertible mounts if you have a convertible..it makes a difference.
3. Front engine dress (Accessory brackets, accessories) The A/C compressor is the same, but the A/C hoses are a little short. The alternator is different from a V6 and a V8.
7. The fuel line comes in on the wrong side of a V6 car. Change it.
8. The C5 trans bolts up to the car, but you will need to swap in a valve body from a V8 C4. Without it, the engine overpowers the trans.
9. An adjustable transmission crossmember. It helps with a dual exhaust.
10. All the brackets and hangers for dual exhaust from a 1986 and newer V8 Mustang. All will bolt on to your car except for the rear mount for the tailpipe. You need a 90 degree drill to get in the small space.
11. All the hook ups for the emissions (HA HA Yeh right!!)
12. The accelerator linkage for a V8 car (79-85 carb). The V6 one is too short.
13. V8 starter for the transmission.
14. Transmission cooler lines.
15. 3 speed auto trans shifter if your car has a 4 speed automatic.
16. Kick down linkage, bell housing and torque convertor from the c-4 transmission.
17. A different cooling fan. The V6 electric fan is too big to fit.
18. Change the tach to the 8 cylinder setting on the guage cluster. Take off the finish panel and look for the round opening labeled " 4 6 8" and turn the slot to "8".
Probably more. I'm in the process of changing to fuel injection. I'm gathering parts. Good luck on your swap. My car got a whole lot faster.
