I have a 94 3.8 V6 w/auto that my son abandoned on my property. The engine doesn't run. I was thinking about converting it to a V8.

Some questions:
Is the manul trans xmember different than the automatic?
Do I need one from a V8 car or will any manual trans xmember work?

I have tons of spare 351W parts and it wouldn't take much to build one into a running engine; haven't decided yet. If I build a 351 based engine then I'll need a TKO, which of course is not cheap, but if I go with a 5.0 based engine, I will need a complete engine. I do have the front accessory brackets already.

Since this is a toy for autox and track use only, if I go with the 351, I'll probably punt and go with a carb to make it easy.

I know I need to upgrade the rear to an 8.8.

Thans in advance for any and all advice!

The V-6 K-member is completely different that the V-8 K-member. To do the swap you must change to the V-8 K-member

I guess I need to clarify. I meant transmission cross member, not the K member that holds the front suspension and engine. I would replace that with a light weight aftermarket one anyway.

I'm pretty sure the Trans cross member is different between the auto and manual cars, but the 94-95 V6 K member is the same as the 94-95 V8 K member.

Stiflers makes a nice tubular cross member that will work with a T5/T45/ TKO or AOD
