IIRC: Those lines control the cold warm up valve at the bottom of the airbox. The line should run to a thermo switch - but I wouldn't worry about it at all, especially is the duct from the exhaust manifold to the air box is missing. I personally yanked mine off and let it get the fresh air from up front - but then again I'm in South Florida and the "heated air" isn't really much needed. I was born and raised in DFW and I'm fairly confident you don't need it either. I would swap in a 1993 or 1994 Ranger exhaust manifold and make it run better if i were you. It drops in without having to move the pipe - literally a yank and replace deal - loose 20+ pounds and have a factory shorty header. '95 to '97 Rangers will work but don't have the O2 bung - so some work would be required to make them work.
