vacuum leak??

the car has a slight tap comin from the mid driver side of the car. the car has recently lost bottom end power and started running richer than usual, also it now backfires after letting off the throttle.... im goin to buy new distributor cap and rotor, new fuel press reg and see if that clears it up a lil... i just did a lt/x pipe install and i was thinkin the 02 sensor may be messed up or not in tight enough.. possibly the headers werent tight enough and i have a leak in the gasket?? any suggestions?

i think your on track with an exhaust leak, if it sounds like a ticking sound thats probably what it is

I would bet on an exhaust leak as well. I had one once with my old crappy BBK headers and the car backfired when I lifted.

If you are running rich, you don't have a vacuum leak. Vacuum leaks make your car run lean (unmetered air).

The ticking is from an exhaust leak. My buddies 91 GT does the same thing. He is getting copper gaskets to eliminate the problem.

Find out which one is leaking, and make sure it's tightened down to spec. If it is, the gasket might not have seated properly.

Hey I forget to tell you , mine Stang looks like run too lean on cylinder #8 , thats why is't f*** up , this weekend I will pull U/L Cobra intake and see do I have any leak
