the black vacuum line that i think goes from the firewall through the passenger fender and down underneath the car, i somehow managed to pop it out from under the car by accident and dont know where it connects, my question is, what is it for and can it be eliminated?

I *think* what you're talking about is a hard plastic line, about 1/4 inch thick...i was told that it's a vent tube coming from the gas tank that goes into the charcoal canister. Mine's been unhooked under the wheel well forever and i had no idea what it was. This is just what i was told so i don't know for certain. Follow it and see where it goes.

i would but i pulled it out from under the car by accident pushing it out of the garage yesterday. what you said makes sense, and yes it is a blac plastic line about the diameter you described, i even have a pic or two of it.

there it is hanging up over my wheel... the label i had on it has since dissapeared haha

i think your right... if im running no smog, charcoal, or egr, should i worry about plugging it in the back of the car?

Yeah that's what my buddy told me mine is...same line. He said if you can smell gas fumes then you should just route it somewhere else, maybe back behind the car, but it does need vented somewhere. I just left mine up behind the fender well because i don't notice any gas smell from it.

So you like letting your ga$ evaporate into the atmosphere? Leave it unplugged/cut off then.

No, you can't seal the line either. The fuel pump won't work properly then.
