hi all i had a question about vacuum. I hooked up my vacuum gauge at idle and the needle pegs out at 30 hg. Is too much vacuum a bad thing.

I've never heard of manifold vac that high when checked, as noted below. Where are you connecting? I assume you know normal high side is 22".
The usual places are pure manifold accesses such as "full" vac side of carb base, PCV, or booster vac ports.

i ma betting that your vacuum gauge is suspect. i have yet to see an engine draw more than 25-26" of vacuum at most, 18-22" is average.

Be that as it may, 30 inches of vacuum is not a bad thing. The more it'll pull at idle, the healthier your bottom end is.

Yeah it did.

I suspect a gauge problem. That T is fine.

Thanks, I see it now. When I first looked for it and you indicated it was there, I didn't see for some reason. Oh well! That certainly looks like a good location to get a reading.
