I have a '91 5.0 and I just installed an S-trim on it. I have trick flow heads and intake, 1.6RR, with a 1" spacer. I just installed an 70mm throttle body on it and the throttle linkage hits my tall Ford Motorsport valve covers. I also have a power pipe on the vortech that also hits the valve cover (the rubber boot that connects the power pipe to the S-trim to be exact). Does anyone know of a taller valve cover that will clear the Rockers yet not too tall where the throttle linkage and power pipe do not hit? I tried to install my stock covers without the baffle but they are still too small and hit the rockers. I'm not too crazy about grinding out the inside of the covers - I'd rather find nice covers with a baffle in it. Thanks for any help. These small problems I've been encountering are frustrating.

Interesting. I'm dealing with some valve cover issues as well. Have the Holley intake with 1.7 RR's.

I have some polymer comp cams covers that fit just fine, but I don't think you can buy them anymore. I actually borrowed a spare stocker to see if I can make it work.

Seems like running tall valve covers on anything EFI with these cars is near impossible.

I've come across the Holley valve covers that are supposed to fit in my situation, which sounds like they'd also work in yours. A couple other random ones too seem like they would work, but I can't guarantee since I've never actually fit one.

Try stacking two gaskets on the stocker to see if it will clear.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack. But will this work without leaks?

the throttle linkage should not be hitting, ive run a few different intakes with a 1" spacer and the same valve covers you are running with no problems. what intake are you using? can you take any pictures of it and post them on here?

Someone sells the gaskets made this way. I bought mine off the classifieds on the Corral and thay are made together.
Sorry...don't know the part# or maker.
I don't see why stacking two and adding a thin layer of RTV between the two wouldn't work.

Short trick flow covers should work.

I have the Trick Flow "street burner" intake with a 1" spacer. The throttle body is a edelbrock/BBK and it's linkage just hits the valve cover. If I had another 1/2", it would be fine although the power pipe boot still hits the valve cover. I had to put the 65mm throttle body back on until I figure out what to do. I'll see if I can take pictures to let you see how close the throttle body is with the 65mm.

I had to go to the ford racing tall covers so that my harland sharp 1.6's would fit (they are beefy) and that my intake pipe for my Paxton 1220 would fit. I used a 1" spacer on my Edelbrock 75mm TB and egr spacer on my Edelbrock Performer II intake with no clearance issues.

Can you post up some pics?

oh what ever you do - do not try to run vc's without a baffle!!!!

Why not try running a thinner gasket? How much space do you need?

I do have the thicker rubber gasket on there although it seems as though I would need a little more room even if I went with a thinner gasket. Here are the pics of how close the 65mm throttle body is (which is fine) and the power pipe rubber boot that hits. The 70mm throttle body only sits down another 1/4" - 3/8", but it's just enough to hit the valve cover.

aahhh that is close.....

My rubber elbow is about the same, it's a tight squeeze.

Are you running an egr spacer?

I will try to snap some photos for you tonight.

How come? Mine don't have a baffle. I pull some oil through the intake, but not too bad. Need to add a separator.
