Valve cover gasket Q

My valve cover gfaskets are leaking very bad. I am going to get it done soon but my Q is: Can i temparay slow/fix the problem? Maybe something like that liquid gasket stuff. some how squeez it through the covers? sorry if this is a rfeally dumb Q. Thanks for any replies

what do you mean squeeze it through the covers? The only thing I could think of is maybe squeeze something along the seam where the valve cover bolts to the head. I don't know how well that would work if at all and it would only be very temporary if it did work. I'd just change valve cover gaskets if it's leaking very bad. You gotta pull the upper intake to change the drivers side one If you're gonna do it yourself and have questions, post up. If you're gonna pay someone to do it, well, do that. To answer your question, I don't really think there's a way slow the leak or stop it without changing the gaskets. Sucks doesn't it?

thanks man... This would be my first time doing it. So i would need to know what tools are req. (ratchet extensions? size? torque? etc...) am i going to need gaskets after taking the intake off? anything I should know that might be over looked before preparing to do it? you have to excuse my ignorance, i'm a network engineer, this is not my area

I'm sure you'll get more replies on this, but it's a pretty easy job- just make sure you use quality gaskets (fel pro, etc.)- I think you can reuse the upper intake gasket if it's not in bad shape, but I would get a new one just to be safe. I asked the same questions a couple years ago about this, since then I had my old engine's valve covers off about 10 times. The worst part about this is the intake having to come off, but as i said, it's pretty straight forward. By the way, you are better off fixing these instead of trying to put some sort of sealant on the covers, that will not work. I'm not sure about the torque specs, my intake is not stock. Hopefully someone can look it up for you. Good luck.
