i just got my stock style efi ford racing valve covers from summit.

Ford Racing M-6582-A301R - Ford Racing Aluminum Valve Covers - summitracing.com

i tried to fit them on my AFR185's with 1.6 Scorpion rockers, and they are about an 3/8's inch too high, the baffle under the oil spout is knocking and the mounts for a breather hole.

i heard that the taller valve covers wont fit under the intake (RPM II) but i can grind the mounts down and either remove, or try to shorten the baffle... any ideas?

My buddy had to use 5/8 inch think gaskets to clear the rockers with stock height covers, and then had to use a 1 inch intake spacer to get the intake to clear the cover. He ordered some Ford Racing covers and i don't think they had baffles in them...if they did then he cut/ground them out.

yes you can run them without the baffle. you will get a slight residue after time in the intake but not enough to wory about.

Sam - you will run into alot of little things that wont quite fit.

Where are they hitting the rockers - with stock covers - you need to take the oil baffle out and also grind some areas.....shoot me a pic of your new valve covers and I will show you where to grind them - or maybe I can stop by this weekend and show you.

I will be in Lebanon this week - I have to take my new GT to emissions.

I had to run a 1" TFS spacer with my Performer II to clear my Canton fabricated valve covers which I needed to clear my Harland Sharp 1.6 rockers.......I don't have a baffle now I'm fighting the leaky oil from breather on header issue.
