ok guys heres a good one.iam running afr 185 heads i bought some ford racing valve covers that were for efi they are to tall.even with a spacer from lower to upper the throttle cable hits them.So i grabbed my stock valve covers, iam running 1.6 stud mounted crane rockers, first prob the locks on top hit the valve cover,i fixed that. Now my prob is the farthest back rocker and the farthest foward rocker are hitting inside the cover when you sit it down on the head. The baffle is out so thats not the issue. These are the stamped style stock covers used in the early 90s,iam think a set of the older cast ones might work i dont know.Iam sure iam not the only one to run into this so please tell me how you got this to work.I got a brand new stroker motor and i cant fire it till i get the cover situation fixed, this sucks, thanks guys

You won't find stock height valve covers that clear aftermarket roller rockers....that's what the tall valve covers are for. If you're running an intake spacer and you're still hitting the valve cover, i'm clueless then because that's usually the remedy. I'm a carb guy though so i'm sure one of the EFI guys can give some more insight.

I have the FR tall valve covers and had to use a 1" spacer and modify the bracket that holds the throttle cover in place .

Stock 91+ (IIRC) valve covers have more clearance in them...you can use them with Scorpion 1.6 Stud-Mounted Rockers with a cork gasket and baffle removed. Been there done that

Also, the Black/Silver striped valve covers that have 'Powered by Ford' and 'Cobra', they work

I used AFR 165's...should be similar enough...

Just cut out/grind the internal ridges where the rockers hit and for extra height use a good thick gasket.I personally use summit rubber gaskets(.200 thick).Clears my 1.6rr and no leaks.

I run stockers on mine after the above mods with no issues.

Grind those little jutted out things or w/e they are down some. Won't hurt anything, just clean very well when you get done.

My stockers clear my scorpion rockers with the baffle removed.
