I recently purchased a rebuilt 390 and it has the stock cam, and stock rockers. I would like to replace the cam and I really like the Thumpr series from Comp but I am not sure if I am getting in over my head. The rockers are not adjustable so I would like to swap them along with the lifters if necessary.

The questions is, what have people used in the 390 that is budget friendly and work well is stock heads?

Thank you in advance!

What's the compression ratio ? Anything more than something like Comps 280H or Crane's 272* Energizer will benefit from adjustable rockers. The 272* Energizer works great with a 10.5 to 1 comp ratio, allowing the use of 89 octane fuel with the stock heads (C8AE-H or D2TE's)
