VALVEBODY QUESTIONS WHICH ONE

I have my mind set on a lenctech valvebody street terminator. It has 1,2,3.and overdrive lock out via electric switch,its 399. I just opened up my ford racing catalog and i saw the same valvebody but its only 329 plus i get a discount cuz my mother in law works at a ford dealership. So should i just stay with the lentech , i dont know of the quality of the ford piece. but they are both the same with the electric lockout no 1d1 shuffle. what would u guys do. ALSO im pretty sure i want an nonlock up converter but i am afraid it will make the car feel slower just need some reaasurrance that i should stay with the non lockup. Engine is in sig. I will be spraying a 100 shot on this so i dont know if that will affect ur input.
 
wont i be snapping shafts tho. i was told even with the hardened shaft that it will be too much power on the 2 to 3 shaft and it would never last. and that a nonlockup would faster due to the engine freespooling as compared to locked, for instance in my buddys cutlass he has the electric control so he can control lockup but if were doing like 45 and u floor it with lockup on it takes a lot longer to go faster as compared to doing 45 with lockup off and flooring it, the engine shoots up to a higher rpm and climbs quicker. also i was told by art carr that a nonlockup would be quicker in the quarter because it would act like powershifting a stick. What i mean is that the rpms would stay higher between shifts as opposed to dropping when u hit second or third because its locked.
 
Maybe I'm wrong here, but I'd say the 2-3 shaft is the outer shaft, which you will have either way, and the inner shaft is the lockup shaft. I just got in from driving my car, and it does not lockup when I shift to 3rd. I have to build up some speed before it locks up. I have 3.73's and I shift into 3rd at about 40 mph or so. I have to then get up to about 55 before it locks up, trust me you can TELL when it locks up. Actually, I am just breaking the engine in from a rebuild, and haven't really got on it yet, and I can't remeber if it lockups on the shift if you are hammering on it or not.
I din't see you were spraying it before, guess it depends on how much TQ you are gonna be putting down. Any idea?
 
I have an Art Carr AOD and a 2800 stall nonlockup, hardened shaft and manual valvebody. The lock up actually "locks out" the converter in 3rd and 4th gears, which means the converter doesn't multiply the engine torque in those gears. Non lock up does multiply the torque which is the first reason why it's faster than a lock up. The second reason is the rpm drop between gear shifts isn't as much, keeping the engine in the powerband. I love this manual valvebody and can say Art Carr's VB works, and I've only heard good things about both the LenTech and the Performance Automatic VB's.
