If i bought a 331 stoker short block from d.s.s. or chp and the pistons were flycut, would i have any problems with clearance with AFR 185's or twisted wedge etc? How do i decide what specs i need a cam to have?
You should always check the clearances, but Probe says their pistsons (flat top w/ valve reliefs) will clear both AFRs and Twited Wedge. They have a total of 3 reliefs on the piston
DSS has pistons to fit either head. But you have to tell them which head you are running. I got pistons from them, they fit great, and I totally recommend them.
the springs on the heads limit your cam and also emissions. i am geting my heads from ed with a valve spring and seal upgrade so i cam run a more agressive cam.
