Vapor Canister questions

In the front passenger side of the motor theres a little plastic box that vents fuel vapor. I was looking around and theres the hose that runs back to the fuel tank and its connected to the canister and another hose with a solenoid and an electrical plug-in and neither that hose or plug-in are connected to anything. I did a search and it seems that hose should be connected to the upper intake, I have a cobra intake and the evap canister port on the front is plugged where that hose should run. So this hose (not the one from the fuel tank) is just sitting there with a solenoid that is getting no power attached to it. Should I hook everything back up or just pull all of it off? If I hook it back up what does the electrical plug-into? Should I just pull the hose w/the solenoid that's not connected to anything and leave the canister? Or should I pull off everything? Also if I end up pulling everything should I block off the line from the tank and get a vented gas cap or just leave the line open?

Well I found the electrical connection. Its up by the hard coolant lines and theres another plug in that connects to the engine coolant temp sensor. So what're the advantages to having this hooked up? Does it affect anything else like a/f, fuel economy, performance? Or is it just there to help the enviroment? Also the electrical plug in was just left unplugged, if I delete this system is it ok to leave it the way it is?
