hi i have a351 2v cleveland which i hope to run in 72 fastback so far i have bought a 280 magnum cam & roller rockers 10.1 forged pistons and stainless 4v valves for the heads(austrialains prefer these over 4v heads) I bought a second hand inlet manifold which was suppsed to be an edelbrock 4barrel to 2v but its a cast iron one i don,t know who made it but does anyone know if its any use. ihave a 600holley is it big enough also i was going to buy a tci breakaway converter and a rebuild for my c4 anybody done this and if so what gears do you recomend i live in n.ireland and parts by the time they reach here are about 3 times the price of the states so i want to get it right 1st time(ps i am using headers).

600 holley will work, but it is a tad small for a 351 C. I would prefer a 700-750, but if it is what you have (the 600) then run it until you can afford the upgrade. I would ditch the intake manifold, and try to get an aluminum one,( Performer RPM would be a smart match for that cam ) but again, if it's what you have for the time being, run the cast iron one until you can afford the upgrade.

I have not had good luck with TCI's converters. I would instead look for a shop that builds torque converters. Actually one of the very best in the world is located right here in my home town. http://www.tcsperformance.com/ They will build you a custom one for roughly the same price as TCI's mass produced stuff.

Gears in that car...Ii would run a 3:50-3:73. But it really depends on what you're trying to do with the car. If you just want to drag race it, then a 4:11 would work better. Just want to cruise it? then the previously mentioned 3:50's would give you better mileage, and also keep the RPM's down while highway driving. If you're looking to do a little of both, then the 3:73's will be a good compromise.

thanks for the info i hope to have a fast street motor when i,ve finished. i do not know anyone who has built one over here and before starting i rang a few tech lines in the states but got no sensible answers if irang about a cam they wanted to know what carb gears etc i was using and when i rang about that they wanted to know what carb i was using;what comes first the chicken or the egg? petrol prices here are 78pence a litre currently 2.76$ to the pound count yourselves lucky.

oops its 1.76$ too the pound bad enough any recomendations for an igition or is the petronix 2 wire distributer ok i hope too make about 400hp at the crank is this realistic.

Pertronix is ok for starters... I like the MSD billet distributor and MSD 6AL ignition box as you get more funds together. Some good plug wires will help alot.
