Hey gang,

I'm not a huge fan of cowl based hoods, I'd like a hood that uses the factory latch. Anyone have any cool hoods, or ideas that might work?

thanks in advance!

Well, 20 years ago we didn't have much choice. Of course if you want the total effect, you'll need 15x10 full reverse offset Crager SS wheels, N50-15's Pro Tracs that stick out about 3", air shocks, chrome shackles, Pioneer 6x9 boxes on the package tray, 8-track under the dash and candy metalflake paint. :D :D :D

I'm looking for the Vented/louver style I guess, get some hot air out, or cold air in, either way would be beneficial. I am not a big fan of changing the entire look of the car for it. I like the idea of the washers BUT then my hood will no longer line up.

Something like the cobra R hood (vented louvers) without the big assed hump. Make sense?

MMMMmmmm...chrome shackles...the 10-inch long ones....remember them well, albeit not so fondly!

I know what you are looking for 06Cobra, but I don't beleive they make one, you'll need some custome work done for that I'm afraid. They do make a psuedo-CobraR type hood, but it has no vents/louvers. The 67 Shelby hood can be had with functional louvers in either short or long form, but that will change the look which you want to avoid.

So you mean like a '68-style hood?

I guess you are right, the only way to do this, is make my own... Now what to do about louvers.

I'm starting to really hate my car LOL

The ones in that picture are on a 68 Shelby hood, the overall design WILL change the external look of your car. They make a 67 style hood with louvers and a scoop that is less radical than the 68 scoops but you want a stock looking (flat) hood right?

You should be able to cut a hole in the steel hood and bond in those louvers, folks do that all the time with scoops, don't see why it wouldn't work with louvers.

Exactly what I was thinking. But have them punched IN not out.
But I'd have them punched into a separate peice of metal, cut the hole in the hood and tack the louvered piece from underneath to get a nice little ridge line all the way around.
