Heys guys, Im in the last stages of my versailles swap, but can I use the 67 shock plates from my existing 8'' rear. Ive read mustangs plus recommends using 65-66 shock plates and slot the holes?

Thanks,
Jamie

I used the original shock plates from my 68 6cyl rear for my lincoln rear conversion. I had to ream the holes out a little since the 9" had a slightly larger diameter shaft than the 7.5. I don't know if there is a difference between 6 and v8 shock plates but I would guess not and you would be just fine.

your stock 67 units will work fine, MP uses the 65-66 because they are a little beefier since the flange/lip goes all the way around the perimiter of the plate vs. only on 2 sides of the 67-up plate. they are racing with their cars and that's why they like the extra beef of the 65-66 plates, for a street car it's not really necessary
