Wondering if..my car is sitting as of now with original motor mounts (88GT), and as is the fan sits aprox 1/2" from the bottom of the fan shroud. Now I have read the vert mounts do lower the engine somewhat..will installing the vert mounts cause clearance issues to arise? I'm wondering if I should go another route?..maybe stock mounts, poly..though I'd HATE to have to return and get something else.

Poly mounts would be my first pick. Lemme know how it turns out and how much of a PITA it is. My old tired stock mounts need to come out too.

Changing motor mounts is easy enough with a decent air compressor and an extra jack...

I think all of the poly mounts are made like the vert mounts anyway. I know my energy suspension mounts were made completely different that the stock mounts on my '87, but I didn't have any clearance problems with them.

Hope it's fine like stated..I only have 1/2 at the bottom of the fan to the shroud. I've read the vert mounts drop 3/4"...that could be a bad thing for me.

I've never had a problem with vert mounts. Its an easy job once you figure out a way to line up to the engine mount with your ratchet. ITs hard to explain. Once the engine is up getting to the mounts can be a little awkward. If you lay under the car and sort of take it all in for second, usually, you can find a good line. And, by the way, no- I'm not cracked out. I think a lot and am usually heavilly caffinated.

Derek, can you hit the parts store and ask to see a set of each? Then measure them to see what difference there is.

I cant help further because I have a vert.

Good luck bud.

I have never had vert mounts lower the engine. Might raise it a bit if anything since your originals are probably well worn. The energy suspension ones I have seen are just like the vert mounts but with poly instead of rubber but the shell is the same.

just installed vert mounts on my 91 lx, and it raised the motor.... My Edelbrock RPM with a 1/2 spacer rubs on the supports under hood....... Other than that easy to do......
