Well before I actually began to install the new top I asked for advice if I should or not and I'm just gonna say it's probably worth paying all that extra money to get it installed. I swear it's probably one of the most tedious processes ever. I mean it's easy but it just takes for freakin ever. Once I actually get done I'll see about postin some pics. So FYI don't do it yourself unless you are just really bored which I am and not to mention I'm puttin new carpet in as well.

i wouldnt attempt it if you've never done it before. its hard to get the top tight and to stay tight over time if you haven't installed one before.
Yes that is the conventional wisdom and is generally good advice. However, there are some factors which make DIY a little better of an option.

These factors are:
-in general US autos do not require special skills such as sewing or craft skills for vert top install (european cars often do however)
-if we are talking vinyl tops, you can buy TWO for less than one would cost professionally installed and install a practice one before you do it for real and still save money (it will cost a lot of time though)
-many tops now come with detailed instructions
-if you pay attention while removing the old top, label all parts, and have a top that has decent installation instructions there is a good chance of success

So I say go for it! :nice:

Be sure you research it first and have all needed tools and supplies available.
