tops are very hard to install without experience and wouldnt look too great with wrinkles in it. Good luck though if you do try it and post some pics.

If you are a body man, you can probably install it. But the top is really calls for a professional to install it.

As you notice, the actual tops are not expensive. But the labor is killer! $700 - $1200 USD depending on the shop you find.

As for the top motor, You can get them from a wrecker fairly easily. The same motor was used from 85- 99 I think.

I paid $900 to have a new top with glass rear window and all new pads installed on my 91 LX. After watching a bit of the installation I have to say there's no way I'd want to do this without a very experienced person giving me directions. This is not a job for amateurs.

The vert top motor is unchanged since 1966. The only thing that changed was the electrical connection. A memeber that used to post here took one out of his 1967 ? and only had to splice the harness to get it to work.

Any luck finding a vert yet?

I paid a respectable upholstery/top shop to replace the top on my (now sold) 1995. They did a crappy, wrinkled, half-ass job and I had to take it all apart and fix it myself.

It's not hard, just be prepared to measure carefully and try things till it's right.

Also, get a staple gun that fires thin, round-wire staples that's still pretty powerful.
