My 302 was rebuilt about 1000 mi ago and two of the lifters bleed down and tick for 10-15 sec at start up. I am going to replace them. What is the best brand - I don't care what they cost. Thanks.

I believe the best brand is out of business soon to re-open. But I'd still try to find some cranes.

comp cams always makes good products, as far as hyd roller lifters comp is hands down the best, the best thing is buy American made lifters seems like everything that is "OEM" replacement is made in China now......I bought some new rotors for my work van about 7 months ago, they are already warping......made in China. Granted there is some good Chineese stuff, half my 408 is chineese (crank, rods) but some stuff is absolute junk.

Rhoades lifters. The first after market VVT set up. A little noisy but the broaden your torque.

I'll second that. Allows use of hot cam, yet good idle and good power brake vacuum.

Are we talking about a flat tappet cam or a roller? If it's a flat, then the cam and lifters should be replaced together. Comp Cams and Crower are the two big names that come to mind now that Crane is MIA. I hope Crane is reopened; just about everything they sold was good and they built a lot of good valvetrain parts for Ford. The '93 Cobra roller rockers and alphabet cams come to mind.

A big reason a lot of the Chinese parts are junk is because many manufacturers cheat on the material certs. I expect that the quality coming out of mainland China will improve just like it did with Japan, Korea, and Taiwan, but it the mean time, I try to avoid things made there.
