since there are many mustang-smart people here, can one of you answer this? i recently bought a 2000 v6 convertible and the entire axle assembly needs to be replaced. well, i have a 98 v6 and the axle assembly is in perfect condition, it even has less miles on it. Now, i know they are different styles but am i able to use the 98 axle assembly on a 2000 or would that cause some problems to the vehicle. thanks for your answers, apreciate it.

it should bolt right in as long as the braking system is the same (ABS VS NON-ABS). also the gear ratios may be different read the tag on the rearend it will tell you the ratio. the 98 is most likely a 2.73 and the 2000 may be a 2.73,3.08 or 3.27. if the ratio is different then you will have to calibrate your speedo to the new rear

the tag should read like this 75 273 then date of production

75 being the ring diameter and 273 will be the ratio

Don't forget that the 98 rear end is shorter from side to side by like 3/4" or so. You'll be able to see the diff. But it will fit. The 00 rear end has 3.27's for sure.
