Hello All
I just had my T5 rebuilt along with a Valeo King Cobra clutch kit. I also had the flywheel resurfaced. Now I have a vibration when the engine is idling with the clutch disengaged. The vibration worsens with engine speed. I was wondering what you guys think could be the cause of this. The only thing I could think of would be the flywheel. Thanks for the help.

see, im having the same problem. i have vibration too now after a trans swap. i had my flywheel resurfaced too.......

if it is the flywheel causing the vibration, is that causing a problem or damage? or just annoying?

If it gets worse with rpm it's probably the flywheel. I've never had any luck with resurfacing them, in my experience they will always vibrate to some degree, especially if you take a lot off or cut it down twice. For the 100 bucks it cost to buy a new one, I won't even bother with resurfacing them anymore.

FWIW, I had to pull my set up completely apart due to the same problem, when I pulled it back apart after just maybe a 100 miles, it vibrated the brand new pilot bearing to pieces already. New flywheel and bearing and it was smooth as could be.

where can you buy a stock NEW flywheel? please send me a link or a place

I took my car back to the shop that did the install and they're saying its an engine accessory. They told me to take the serpentine belt off this weekend and see if the vibration goes away. Sounds like :bs: to me. They told to bring it back if that doesn't work. Should have just bought a new flywheel to begin with. :nonono:

have you found out anything else? still having the problem?

the engine accessory thing doesnt sound viable if it happened the same time as the swap, but it couldnt hurt taking the belt off, it wont take you more than 10 minutes for removal and re-install. after ruling that out, look at the harmonic balancer to see if the rubber piece is pushing out. if it is, that needs to be replaced even if its not the main cause of your problem. the most likely cause of the problem is the flywheel, did you install all of the dowl pins fully into the flywheel? p.s. i bought my frpp new flywheel from 5.0resto for 95$

Does the shifter vibrate like crazy and somtimes it will make noise??, who did the tranny rebuild and install??, after i had rebuilt mine i installed it and for about 1000 miles it would vibrate and make somkinda noise. It eventualy smoothed out on its own.

I tried taking the belt off with no change. I did notice the rubber sticking out of the HB just a little bit so I replaced that with no change. I took it back to the shop. The guy said that he loosened and retightened some things but that he believes its pressure plate. Their is a little less vibration but it is still noticeable. Not sure what to do now. I don't want to buy another clutch have it installed and have the same problem.
