Ok so Ive had a vibration coming from the rearend I believe ever since i bought my 94 cobra about a year ago. I never really thought much about it since i dont really drive over 80 too much except for at the track. Once i reach 80 the vibration starts and it souds like its coming from the rear somewhere. Its not a consistant vibration either its more like a wha wha wha type sound. I checked the gears in the rearend and they look perfect still. It has 3.73's in it and a posi locker. Someone told me that it may be because my gears are really tight in the rearend? But if anybody had any idea what this could be or any advice i would appreciate it. Thanks

I had a similar vibration about 75mph and I replaced my u-joints and had my rear tires rebalanced and it went away. My friends car had the same issue and his went away after switching to an aluminum driveshaft. hope this helps

have your wheels balanced again. you can have the driveshaft balanced too. i had/have this problem, i've done the tires and it helped, but isn't gone. i'm going to get the driveshaft balanced sometime sooner rather than later hopefully.

He's a simple test for you to do Justin. Find an empty road where you can relatively safely take you car over 80 and when the vibes begin, depress the clutch pedal so that the tranny is effectively in neutral. If the vibes continue, your problem is most likely to be the rear wheels/tires out of balance (make sure you have equal pressure in both rear tires). If the vibes immediately stop, the problem's drivetrain-related (worn driveshaft u-joints is commonest cause).
