At idol or under power I have a strong vibration through out the car and can't seem to run it down. It's a 1965 mustang with a 289 slightly built with a c4 automatic. My question is could it have the wrong flex plate in it and how can I determine the correct balancer and flex plate it requires?

i doubt it is a wrong flexplate or balancer, if it was you would have a bad vibration through out the rpm range.

does this vibration come when you are running down the road, or just reving the engine up with no load?

How about checking all your spark plug wires and plugs, make sure you arent getting cross fire and make sure all cylinders are firing.

The vibration is sitting still and going down the road. After driving awhile it seems to get some what louder as driving, also it seems to still be there over 2800 rpm but not as harsh.
