After I had my 410's installed, i was driving on the highway and when i got close to and above 100mph there was a bad vibration coming through the trans and shifter. I could also feel it in the butt of my seat. I asked the guy who installed the gear and he said that my driveshaft is out of balance. Is this a possibility? Is it something else?
thanks for all your help!

if your d/s is out of balance, you should get the installer to fix it for free since it didnt do that before the gear install (assuming it didnt). another thing, doing 100 w/ 4.10s means your taching, what, ~4500 rpms or higher? it should be around there, but i dont make it a habit to look down while doing 100 since things are flying by. dude, you dont have a BMW or Mercedes.....its a ford. it WILL make strange vibrations, rattles, creaks, grones, squeeks when revving high, cruising fast, hitting bumps, etc. just one of the trades off of owning american muscle

right i understand that it will make noise and there will be vibrations but this one is a very bad vibration. It makes me nervous cus theres so much vibration going on
if thats the case, then def go back and MAKE him fix it. it is still warrantied, right? i mean there should be some sort of labor garuntee for at least the first 1000 miles

Best case...they simply didn't orient the ds properly when re-installing it. It needs to be installed in it's same position as before in relation to the front and rear yokes. Did they mark it?

If not simply try rotating it 180* to start.

haha, i wouldn't count that MB has good build quality. i drove a couple 03-04 amg sl55's and those biotchs had creaks @ rattles in it, and some of the interior quality is shotty

but still.... amg sl55 =

are you kiddin me? you wanna sit there and tell me that mercedes benz' build quality is bad and the interior is shotty?? what are you inhaling right now, b/c i want some! dude, MB has set the bar for the past 3 decades on build quality, ride quality, comfort, etc. have you ACTUALLY drivin a Mercedes, or did your friend tell you about one he drove? now, granted the 80s-early 90s MB arent as nice as a honda nowadays, but in their time, Mercedes WAS and STILL IS in the top 3 car manufacturers as far as quality goes. they also build a strong engine and very strong auto trannys. they even have a new 7 spd auto tranny set to come out in 06ish. and you wanna talk about the AMG??? arent those hand built (not assembly lined) in germany? yeah, the AMG would be the epitome of MB, therefore the epitome of a pricetag. theres a reason people will buy a $90,000 MB, but dont wanna spend $25,000 on a new Mustang. now do you want to tell me that the Roles Royce you drove has a shotty interior too?

Thanks for the help guys! The car is in storgae for the winter, dam chicago snow!, and the engine has rod knock so its all gonna come out over the winter. Working on getting an 04 4.6 motor from ford for $2600, brand new long block.

Yes get an aluminum driveshaft if you can it will
help alot!
Mine did the same thing after my gear install and the aluminum DS cleared it right up. I did have the needle bearings turn to powder in the u-joint of the old one so that was the big problem.

I bet it was an issue. How did it turn out bro? I installed my FRPP Aluminum
driveshaft at the same time as my gears and like you said the D/S probaly
cleared any vibrations/noises before it started.I belive an FRPP Aluminum
D/S is a great investment anyway aspecially when doing gears.
