Vibration getting bad under car???

I am getting a vibration under my car! It happens through all gears at a variety of different RPM's. It is really bad in 5th gear going between 60-75 mph. I looked at the u-joints and they seem to be fine. There is no play in my driveshaft and my tranny mounts seem to be fine. You can feel a slight vibration when slowly downshifting between gears also. I can't figure it out!!! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

What modifications does the car have. What is it's mileage. Are you the original owener,...Details....

I am the second owner, it has appx. 65K on it and the only Mods are CAI and Flowmasters. I was told the clutch disc could have a crack in it and that could be causing the vibration... your thoughts???

No, I have never removed the diveshaft...

My first guess would have been the u-joints.....How did you inpect them? Just by rotating the driveshaft and looking for play? Even if everything seems tight those bearings could be wearing out.

The thing I found with my u-joint was it would start vibrating at a certain RPM in 5th...then 4th...then all gears. It just got worse as the bearings wore. The only way to tell for sure is to remove the DS and insect the bearings.

Please get your joints checked out, man. It's rather unsafe to be driving at those speeds with a faulty driveline assembly. Not only that, you'll find yourself stranded on the side of the road. Don't know of many people who love that.

Lock up the rear end (in gear or e-brake) and twist the driveshaft and examine both ends for play.

I moved the driveshaft around with it in gear and there was very little play. Everyone here seems to think it is the u joints though, so I am going to get them swapped out and get the driveshaft balanced at the same time. Thanks for the advice!!!

You could just go with an aluminum driveshaft while everything is apart.

did you recently get a tire changed or new rims? anything to cause your wheels having a rebalance?

I had a severe vibration on my car and it turned out the tires weren't balanced correctly after I got my new rims. just a question...

Well, I got my tires rotated and balanced; and about a week later I changed my front brakes my self, Do you think that would call for me to get them re-balanced???

if your rotors are warped and you didn't grind them down on your new pads OR your wheels weren't properly balanced that will cause a shaking underneath you.

Usually a shaky bottom end underneath the ENTIRE car (aka not translating through the steering column) is a poorly balanced wheel or a brake issue or u-joint.
