I have recently started to get vibration in my drivetrain. It has gotten to the point that I can see my shifter even vibrating....scary.... Is this likely a driveshaft or U-joint problem? Or is it the transmission itself? It basically vibrates under load (acceleration) or when cruising at say higher speed in 5th gear. I am sure someone else has experienced this problem and could give me some tips as to how to attack this problem.

Is your harmonic balancer stock? In your sig you list a S/C. The stock piece is notorious for failing on a modded car. This could be your problem.

The U-joints don't typically fail (or at least I have not heard of a failure yet.) However, it doesn't hurt to inspect them.

Also, the steel driveshaft can develop a warp if the car is modified. The only way to check this is with a straight edge (long enough) to pick up any curvature in the part.

Check your U joints, slide under your car and push up and pull down directly on the U joint, if you feel any movement then replace them. If thats not it then the harmonic balancer, I am sure there is a thread in here about that with pics, then check motor mounts trans mounts, Is it running on all 8 cyclinders,,, let us know whata you find....:SNSign:

89stangalang,

Have you made any changes to your driveline or have you unbolted the driveshaft for any reason? Check and make sure your driveshaft bolts didn't loosen up on you.

Gears

That is very good advice, i've had that happen.

If that's not the case, i would suggest getting a FMS aluminum driveshaft. IMO a stock driveshaft is not worth U joints, unless money is very tight.

The supercharger is currently on the car, but not hooked up with the belt. The engine really seems fine to me. I will try and check the driveshaft checked out soon and report back my findings.
