Hey all,

I've always had some driveline viberation at about 90-100 MPH (approx 2500 in 5th). Never been an issue as I rarely drive that fast. Now, however, I have 3.90 gears and that is about 70 mph for me, so I get it alot. It happens when in gear, and when I put it in neutral.

Would this be a balance issue in my driveshaft? I figure suspension/tires can be ruled out because the vibes come at the same RPM in 5th, not the same speed.

yep, basically one way or the other, the DS and dynamics are out of balance. one guy in here (Tom IIRC) has used some interesting things to balance his.

others try the alum DS. you could find a shop to dynamically balance your existing DS.

good luck.

In the machining/engineering process each part is given a "tolerance" (or how far away from ideal it can be machined). You could have a combination of pieces working together to exaggerate eachothers differences.

If the pinion center is slightly askew as well as all the other geometric factors you will get vibrations :notnice:

My advice is to get some mics and work from your output shaft towards the rearend :nice:
