Alright, I typed this once and it got closed (damn firefox). So lets make this short...

My parked Mustang got hit. No idea who did it.

Based on damage in photo, you think I will just need a new panel (I do)? Can a shop paint match the stock paint that has been in sun for 12 yrs, or will I need entire car painted to look right?

Where can I find cheap, OEM quality NEW body panels at online?

Any ideas how to catch who did it? Tailgate, sharp under part of bumper, or a trailer with a mustard-metallic paint left on my car.

Help! Thanks!

They can color match your car, although Silver is 1 of the hardest colors to do it with. They will end up blending it in by painting the hood and probably the Door along with your new fender.

did you call the police? if so they should have given you a case #...if you were in GA when it happened, should have done a private proerty accident report.....if you didnt do this already its too late....also if you didnt do this already, you prolly dont have a chance to get who hit your car

Called police right when I saw the damage, they came, I took pics of car before I moved it. The cop was going to continue to check the area that day. I planned on calling the police station today to follow up since I have not heard back. No case # yet though.

silver is quite easy with our UTECH paint system. Your hood will be painted, and your drivers door will likely be painted as well as the front bumper will be BLENDED, probably not fully painted. Don't worry about it man, go to a reputable shop, they won't do u wrong. i wish you lived near or in Philly, or Id fix it for you. It might even be easier to just fix the fender, than to get a new one, if u get a new one, do NOT get an after market one, or the lines will be VERY HARD and will never be perfect (door gap, hood gap i mean) at my shop it would cost you 350-450 to fix the panel and paint the adjacent panels, (makes matching the color NO PROBLEM AT ALL) - and your adjacent panels to the painted panels would be buffed up to shine like the clear that was just used to paint your fender door and hood so that it would look like it was never touched, a decent reputable body shop will do the same for you. GOOD LUCK MAN, nothing like a jerk off not leaving information on your window, well, at least he didn't break your windsheild!!?

Sorry to hear, and happy to help...

Yeah, I talked to my law professor - said not much I can do. Insurance will pay of course. One thing he mentioned was to drive around looking for where the gas line construction vehicles have moved on to. Cop suggested they may have used my street as a turn around when they picked up their equipment. Makes sense since they would have trailers that are often painted yellow.

I guess I will scan the area. Of course I would prefer someone else to pay for it, but what bothers me most is that I am going to be suspsicious of anything remotely yellow in color. ARG!

Paul - Based on that pic, would it be possible to bang out the damage and restore the normal lines and curves of the stock fender? That is my only reason for considering purchasing a new piece, but like you said, it won't ever line up the same - I saw that happen with a friend and his Accord that had the same panel replaced this summer.

yes, we have a master body work artist here, my dad, and a night guy, (im workin on it lol) that could FIX your fender, instead of you getting a new one, we do this alot depending on what would the customer prefer, if its cheaper to fix, sometimes they'll say go ahead and fix it, or sometimes they'll say, i want a new peice anyway, i'll pay.... (dont know why lol) GOOD LUCK MAN -
and if you do get another fender, just get it from ford, don't get an aftermarket one thats cheaper, cuz the AFTER MARKET ONE WONT FIT!! The ford fenders usually will fit, at least there will be alot less SHIMMING if you get a ford fender lol

wow sorry man, they left no note or anything huh? probably got scared and left as quick as possible..

I am trying to tell myself that it was a large heavy vehicle trailer and they didn't feel/notice the impact. The odds of that are slim - probably someone being drunk and stupid.
