Hey everyone... Got a pretty basic question trying to decode my VIN... I tried a couple of the free sites but I'm just trying to get more details... I guess it's much details as I can... Trying to figure out how original my car is... Actually my daughter's car LOL... specifically the rear differential... 2004 GT premium... Auto transmission... any info appreciated thanks...

Unless your GT has been modified it has 3.27's.

Want to know for sure? Set the cruse control at 60 MPH on the freeway. Measure the time travel between mile post markers. What is the RPM's?

There's also a metal tag on the cover. The last digits has the rear end ratio.

Then there's the jack the rear axle up on jack stands. Mark the edge of a wheel. Turn the drive shaft and count how many turns of the drive shaft are needed to make the rear wheel turn one time around. If it's about 3 and a quarter.....

The VIN isn't going to contain the rear end ratio.
