I am looking at purchasing a 1965 fastback that has had the inner fender aprons replaced and the VIN plate on the door has long since been lost. My question is this: Where else on the car might I find the VIN stamped the match against the title? Thank you in advance for your help.

If both inner fenders were replaced and have no vin stamped on them there is no way to validate the correct vin on the car.

Contact the DMV as they would know of any hidden VIN's.

You might find a build sheet under the carpet, under the dash or under one of the seats stuck in the springs.

the right fender has to be removed and the VIN is stamped on the apron, assuming it wasn't replaced. contact the DMV to discuss purchase of one of these cars. It would suck to buy it then they take it away because it was chopped out

Here's a comment on this from another forum. It's got an attached pic that should help.
