VIN #

How many digits should be on the VIN of a 1965 Mustang. I am getting the VIN off of my title and carfax says that it is invalid and needs to be 17 digits. I want to sell it but would like to check the carfax first.

classic stangs dont have vin numbers, and besides carfax info doesnt go that far back. all a mustang has is a data plate containing a warranty number, this is equivalent to a mustang's vin, but it isnt a vin.
