Vinyl Stripes

I just purchase my first Mustang. It is a 2008 Vista Blue GT, and I am already starting to modify it.

I am replacing the stock spoiler with the GT500 spoiler, and I want to add stripes next before I have the clear bra installed.

Does anyone know what color stripes you could get on a Dark Blue Shelby? I thought I remember seeing some Dark Silver stripes, but I can't find the information on what was available on the GT500.

I don't want white stripes, because someone in town already has a Vista Blue with white stripes. Plus I remember the Shelby with the Dark Silver stirpes looking sweet.

Thanks.

Is your question what colors come available from a factory Shelby? Cause you can get stripes in literally any color you want from a variety of places. Lot cheaper then buying quote on quote "Shelby stripes"

AmericanMuscle.com has some I think for a decent price, I did a bottom rocker panel stripe from them and it's quality....

Find a reputable body shop and have them paint the stripes on with whatever color you like. You can also play with the width and separation of two stripes or have one wide stripe with ministripes on either side. Paint is a much nicer option.

Paint them! Mine are vinyl and I'd pony up the extra money to paint them. Plus that other car won't look nearly as good as yours, if you got white. I've seen the difference up close and it's no contest.

But since you don't want white, I'd go with the silver. Or you can possibly get away with a black. Past them, I don't think you have many options.

One other benefit of a trip to the paintshop is you can do some color-matching at the same time. I had the chin spoiler, original mirrors, and door trim done. I've since swapped out the mirrors because, even color-matched, they were just too fugly. I have color-matched Agent 47 retro mirrors now and they are way nicer than the stockers. Another idea while you're there - have the underside of your hood painted and cleared so it's more presentable at shows if you decide to dump the hood blanket that tends to get dirty and look crappy.

+1000 on painting the stripes!
I just had stripes painted on mine and they're awesome!!!!!
I had mine done in Alloy which keeps to the metallic theme of the Vista. They are very subtle at most angles, sometimes not even visible at all. I'll take some better pics of mine next week after I get her waxed (waiting for paint cure time sucks:().

I believe the GT500 stripe color you're referring to is Tungsten.

If you use a quality vinyl like what I sell it won't randomly peel and bubble, as it has an outdoor durability of 5-8 years. I can also sell them cheaper than any one else. :nice:

Paint is permanent.

Thanks KoolDawg that is exactly what I was looking for, a picture of the vista blue with the Tungsten stripes. I had trouble finding the Tungsten color.

I agree painted looks best, and I love the sidestripes on KoolDawgs car, but I can only afford the vinyl now. Maybe in a few years I'll get them painted.

Thanks for the help.

KoolDog can we see some more pictures of your stang - looks great! I just got a 2006 vista blue GT and am trying to decide on:
option 1: reverse c-stripe, tail light panel, cdc unpainted chin, and likely mach 1 partial hood stripe up to scoop - I'm thinking flat black or tungsten - the common silver / white is just a bit much/boy racer for me. I have a tan interior so I think those would clash anyway.
option 2: Or I've thought some about a sandstone/light tanish gold color rally stripes to tie together the inside - but I think it might be less subtle then I typically like

I am trying to choose general sheme as that will point me towards wheels (18-20") for summer...
No other exterior mods right now except gt500 spoiler, cdc in the garage, 4" polished tips, no scoop, lowered 1.5"
