i need to replace my convertible top and I was wondering what people's thoughts were: vinyl vs cloth? The car is an 86 so it currently has a vinyl top.

The cloth looks good but have issues leaking at fold spots. If the car is garaged... cloth...outside..vinyl. My $.02

I'll hopefully have the car garaged over the winters, but then it will be outside and covered the rest of the year.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! So far I'm leaning towards vinyl for the cost as well as the hope is to have a child over the next year so anything I could save would be helpful.

Vinyl was stock on my 90 so I recently had mine replaced with same.Ease of cleaning and less creasing with the Vinyl.

Cloth is about 2x as expensive, harder to install properly, and does not last as long. Check with companies like EZON, Hartz. Personally I don't like cloth tops on Mustangs and the originals were vinyl and look better IMO.
