i was just wondering if there was any visual difference from the pi intake and the npi. i was looking at mine last night and noticed it had an aluminum crossover on it and thought that was part of the difference between the two... so hopefully you guys will tell me i have a pi intake lol

aluminum crossover means its the updated (01+) PI intake.

Easiest way to tell is to look underneath it. If you can see the "valley" or coolant tubes very easy and the "runners" are short then its a npi. If it looks like the intake goes all the way down to the top of the block and you cannot see any free space then its a pi intake.

Short=npi
long/deep=pi..

My pp intake doesnt go all the way down, is a pi intake still better than an aftermarket one?

well thats dumb, you would think they would have learned their lesson with the NPI without the aluminum crossover. i thought only the "fixed" PI intakes had the aluminum crossover to prevent the cracking at the thermostat housing.

any aftermarket stock replacement, npi or pi will have the alum crossover.

And as stated above, ALL 99+ stangs and most everything but trucks had the pi intake. My explorer motor had a pi on it as well (03).
