i found a guy locally selling a vortec v-1 for 300 dollars and i was curious if you guys thought that was worth it. also would it be possible to fab a kit to make it fit onto a 289 in a 66 mustang. i have the tools and resources because of not only some things i have learned but also those handy dandy neighbors. the kit was origianlly for a chevy truck but we have fabed up some brackets for the front of engines before so i think i could do it. let me know what you all think. i emailed the guy to ask the condition of the super charger i asked if it had any wobble to it or nicks in the fins. also how long it had been used and such. let me know what you guys think thanks again

you could probabaly find some 5.0 brackets and mek them work, then worry about the belts and acc. mounting. To rebuild the blower is about $700+ i think, so make sure the bearings are good and check the impellar and look for leaks.

$300 sounds pretty cheap. You are on the right track checking for a damaged impeller. Also look for oil leaks.

You can get the serial # off of the plate and give Vortech a call to get the dirt on the blower.

Good luck, nothing like a V1, I love mine.

just make sure it spins nice and free and it is for a CW rotation. You can purchase just the brackets from Vortech and the old Paxton bracket is the same one also.

now the enclosure is diffrent than a carb hat.. yes? the carb enclosure is exspensive so i guess it would just be a way to either find one used or decide which way is cheaper haha

A good hat has proven to be cheaper and make more HP. You should be able to throw a blower system together fairly cheap. Either wya yes, you will need a blow thru carb. But for 5-7 psi would be really easy to make one.
